The Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust offers help, advice and treatment for sexual health issues including sexual infections, pregnancy, and contraception. Services are provided in both in the hospital and in clinics in the community.

Chester Sexual Health - This website provides information on sexual health. It also gives information about contraception and sexual health clinics within the hospital- these are appointment only services.
Appointments are preferred for all clinics but patients without appointments may still be seen. If you have a problem and need to be seen quickly, please explain that when you telephone for an appointment. R U Sure - This site offers advice on contraception and sexual health. It also provides information about contraception and sexual health clinics within the community which have both appointments and walk-in services. This website also has information and advice for young people. As well there is a search tool to help you find your nearest clinic. You are also able to order a test kit on line for chlamydia/gonorrhoea if you are under 25 and live in Western Cheshire.
Western Cheshire Abortion Service
If you have an unplanned pregnancy and are not sure what to do, visit your GP or a Contraception and Sexual Health clinic for confidential advice.
If you decide that you wish to have an abortion and you are registered with a GP in Western Cheshire, you can access the local Abortion Service. There is a dedicated, confidential, telephone line to make an appointment 01244 376690 (Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm). You do not need a referral from a health professional to access this service. The Abortion Service can provide you with:
- a confidential consultation within 2 weeks of first contact
- advice on unplanned pregnancy
- consultation for an abortion
- specialist counselling pre and post abortion
- treatment within 1 week of first consultation
- full sexually transmitted infection testing
- all methods of contraception
This service is provided by the Integrated Contraception and Sexual Health Service at the Countess of Chester Hospital for women who are registered with a GP in Western Cheshire.
There are a number of options available to you if you are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, which will be discussed in full at your first consultation. The Countess of Chester Hospital offers medical and surgical abortion up to 13 weeks of pregnancy. Your GP will not be told about the visit unless you agree to it.
You can also contact bpas (British Pregnancy Advisory Service) via a central booking telephone number (0800 403040). Bpas consultations and early medical abortions take place in Chester, with operations carried out in Liverpool or further afield, depending on gestation. This is free of charge under an NHS agreement.
