Speech and Language Therapy
Speech & Language Therapy is a Healthcare profession. The
role of a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) is to assess and
treat speech, voice, language and communication problems in people
of all ages to enable them to communicate to the best of their
ability.
We also work with people who have eating and swallowing
problems.
Did You Know...
- Around 2.5 million people in the UK have a speech or language
difficulty
- 30% of stroke sufferers have a persisting speech and language
disorder
Here at the Countess we are a small team of 8 providing a
service to both the Countess of Chester Hospital and Ellesmere Port
Hospital. Our service is open to anyone over the age of 18 with an
acquired communication or swallowing disorder.
We are based within the Therapies department. As well as seeing
patients on wards we also see people on an outpatient basis and
provide a domicilliary service. As well as covering the Chester
area we also cover Ellesmere Port, Elton, Frodsham and Helsby. We
are all registered with the Royal College of Speech & Language
Therapists and are bound by strict codes of professional
conduct.
