The Countess of Chester Hospital ranked #24 in The Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List

Inclusive Awards 2018-Website -LogoIn recognition of our continued dedication to workplace diversity, The Countess of Chester Hospital has been ranked 24th in The Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List for 2018 – a definitive list of UK based organisations that promote inclusion across all protected characteristics, throughout each level of employment within an organisation.

Announced at the Inclusive Companies Awards in Manchester, The Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers identifies the most inclusive companies across the UK and recognises those organisations demonstrating the promotion of all strands of diversity including age, disability, gender, LGBT, race, faith & religion.

The list focuses on representation at management, senior, executive and board level and is compiled by a dedicated panel of judges. The organisations featured have provided sufficient evidence on an amalgamation of topics including recruitment procedures, training and a host of diversity related initiatives.

As part of our submission to the Inclusive Top 50 Employers List the Countess was able to demonstrate:

  • A clear commitment to staff to demonstrate high standards of equality and diversity practice through striving for and achieving national standards including Navajo, Age Positive, Mindful Employer and Disability Confident
  • Ongoing external stakeholder involvement through our trust’s 5 Equality sub groups
  • Clear outreach activity to attract new talent from outside the organisation from a range of diverse groups

Deputy Director of People and Organisation Development at The Countess, Dee Appleton Cairns said: “To be ranked 24th in the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List at our first attempt is a fabulous achievement for us all at the Countess and is recognition of the work our Equality and Diversity leads Sophie Hunter and Joe O’Grady have done to promote diversity, equality and inclusion within our hospital. We still feel like we are at the start of our journey but this award outlines the importance and value of being a truly inclusive workplace”.

The Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List recognises the outstanding efforts of organisations that have begun their journey to attracting and retaining a truly diverse workforce, achieving equality, diversity and inclusion at its purest form.

“The most successful and prosperous employers understand the value and rewards of harnessing diverse talent” said Founder & CEO, Paul Sesay. “Those featured on the definitive list of the UK’s most inclusive employers are leading the way in providing inclusive workplaces where everyone feels empowered to be the very best they can be”.
