      Neonatal Review and Update

      In July last year we took the decision to change admission arrangements for neonatal facilities. The unit stopped providing intensive care. Any women expected to deliver earlier than 32 weeks were transferred to a neighbouring facility. This step was taken because we wanted to better understand why there had been a greater number of deaths than we would normally expect on our neonatal unit between January 2015 and July 2016. ...Read more

      Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes (SSBB) have unveiled a brand new bike called ‘Angel’ that will be used at the Countess of Chester Hospital.       Frontline staff at The Countess of Chester Hospital are the faces of a new winter care campaign to raise awareness of alternative NHS services and alert people to when the hospital is extremely busy.   Domestics, healthcare assistants, junior doctors, nurses and emergency department consultants have all stepped forward to take part in producing a series of filmed messages talking about their experiences of working in the hospital at its busiest time of the year. ...Read more

      Christmas tree donation

      An Ellesmere Port couple have donated a Christmas tree to the Countess of Chester Hospital’s emergency department as a thank you to the staff. Chef Catalina Aman attended the emergency department after burning her arm in an accident at work at 8pm on Saturday 17 December. Her fiancé Marion Selmani, who stayed with Catalina as the staff took care of her, decided he wanted to give something back and spread a bit of Christmas cheer. ...Read more
