Countess Gem of the month... Kimberley Jones

Kimberley 1Clinical Finance and Business Manager Kimberley Jones is the latest Countess Gem of the month winner.

Kimberley was nominated for the invaluable role she played in preparing the business case for the Trust’s new electronic patient record system, which was announced last month.

As part of her day-to-day duties Kimberley manages the budgets for teams across the hospital, helping managers to get as much as they can from the money that is allocated to them.

Her diligence and professionalism was recognised by Informatics Director Rob Howorth, who put Kimberley forward for this award. You can read his nomination below:

“I would like to nominate Kimberley for an individual Countess Gem award for all the support she has given to the new electronic patient record project so far. Whilst it is only early days her support, patience and perseverance has been excellent and consistent throughout. She has been extremely supportive of me in the initial complex process of getting us to a point where we can begin to focus on implementation to the hospital. All this alongside the usual month ends and year ends. She has worked hard and tirelessly on this and pushed the case forward. This would not have been possible without her input. Kimberley is a true gem and she deserves recognition.”

Kimberley said: “It is always nice to know your efforts are appreciated but I could not do my job without the knowledge and expertise of the finance team which I am proud to be part of and working closely with the budget holders I have supported over the last three years. I have worked with corporate departments, Estates & Facilities and more recently as part of the Planned Care division. I couldn’t have wished for better people to work with.”

Deputy Director of People and OD, Dee Appleton-Cairns said: “Well done to Kimberley for being our latest Countess Gem of the month winner! The introduction of a new electronic patient record system is a hugely important project for the Trust and Kimberley’s hard work has helped to lay strong foundations to build on. I know from personal experience working with her on other projects, that she is a credit to the Countess, a definite Gem, and I know her work is greatly appreciated by many at the hospital.”

About Countess Gems

‘Countess Gems’ are a monthly recognition awards scheme at the Countess of Chester Hospital, with members of staff nominating colleagues who they think deserve special praise. Every person/team nominated officially becomes a ‘Countess Gem’ with a certificate. Once a month the leadership group reviews all the nominations and selects an overall winner. This team/individual will then receive £125 to spend with in-house Catering Services to celebrate. The Countess Gems awards are funded through donations from patients and families in thanks for the care they have received (charitable funds).
