Facilities

The facilities available for use at the Education and Training Centre include; a clinical skills facility with purpose built facilities for moving, handling and resuscitation skills training, two IT training suites and five general training rooms.

All Training rooms are equipped with a range of audio visual equipment designed to meet all training and meeting requirements and room / table layout is extremely flexible.

Additional facilities include; two syndicate rooms, a multidisciplinary library which has been extended and refurbished to provide a more comprehensive range of books and journals for use by all staff, and a recently refurbished lecture hall that has been fitted with the latest video-conferencing technology.

Computer facilities & Printing

Six networked computers are available for library users, offering: Microsoft Office, Internet and Email. Printouts are charged at 5p a sheet. There is also a stand-alone photocopier.

Internet

All library computers have Microsoft Office facilities, as well as Email and Internet access. Application forms for personal Internet passwords are held by the Librarian ext. 4734/4721 or by Cathy Collins, IM&T. ext. 5772.

Heritage IV

Library circulation and cataloguing services have been automated since the installation of Heritage IV software system in 2002. Heritage IV allows users to search for books, reports, CD-ROMs and videos held by the library from any computer terminal in the hospital. Journals are listed on the Library's Intranet page.

Photocopying & Scanning

Photocopies of materials held in the library can be done from a stand-alone computer, dedicated to this purpose. Users are expected to do their own photocopying and to abide by copyright laws. Photocopies are currently 10p per A4 sheet and 20p per A3 sheet. Cards can be purchased from the Librarian. Photocopies processed by library staff cost £1 each.

Scanned articles from stock cost £1. All items must be scanned by library staff.
