Transport Services

This is a service that predominantly collects specimens from all the GP Surgeries and other Hospitals in our catchment area. In addition all post, medical records and equipment to these surgeries are collected and delivered. The Trust has six vehicles that continually provide a service on a Monday-Saturday basis.

The Taxi Service is now co-ordinated through the Transport Service, from 9.00am-5.00pm, Monday to Friday (out of hours the Taxi Service is co-ordinated through A&E).

The non-emergency patient transport is managed by the Head of Facilities assisted by the Transport Co-ordinator.

The purpose of this contract is to get patients to and from hospitals in the most appropriate and cost effective manner.

The merging of the above and the Trust's own transport is intended to provide options in relation to patient movement, as the movement of patients by ambulance is most costly.
