Sterile Services Department
Sterile Services provides the following:
Full decontamination and sterilization of all reusable medical
and surgical instruments on site at the Countess of Chester
Hospital NHS foundation trust.
Free advice on purchase of equipment regarding its suitability
for reprocessing.
All our instrument trays are identified by an individual barcode
system and can be traced from process to patient.
All our equipment is purchased, installed and maintained in
accordance with the relevant Health Technical Memoranda.
The quality of all re-usable medical devices and raw materials
is controlled by both International and European standards. Every
stage of processing is monitored and audited with any resulting
action being recorded. We are accredited to ISO 9001-2008 with ISO
13485:2003 and we comply with Directive 93/42/EEC.

Related Information
Our Technicians are trained to NVQ level 3 in decontamination
each with three or more year's decontamination experience.
All our staff have completed the National Decontamination
Programme.
