Treating Sepsis


With the treatment of sepsis every minute counts. The first step in treating sepsis is early recognition, so by being aware of the signs and symptoms of sepsis and seeking medical advice early we can improve sepsis survival rates.

Initial basic treatment of sepsis includes antibiotics and fluids, which should be given within the first hour of the patient being diagnosed with sepsis.

At the Countess of Chester Hospital we utilise an international set of treatments known as the ‘Sepsis 6’ illustrated below.
