    Sepsis is a life threatening condition that arises when the body’s response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs. It can be caused by something as simple as a cut or insect bite, or an infection like pneumonia.

    Part of the pack – ‘Team Countess’

    The NHS celebrated its 66th birthday on Saturday 5 July and on the same day ‘le Grand Départ’ of the Tour de France took place in Yorkshire. The opening stage of the 2014 tour started in Leeds and finished 190km later in Harrogate.

    If she had still been living, Florence Nightingale would have been 194 years old on Monday 12th May. To celebrate her birthday and all of the good work nurses do, the 12th May has now become International Nurses Day.
