One Show filming at the Trust
British broadcasting legend Angela Rippon led a film crew from The One Show around the hospital on Monday 26 February.
Angela was presenting a segment to launch the BBC programme’s own Patient Appreciation Awards to celebrate the NHS’ 70th birthday - click here for more information and to view the video.
The feature, which aired on Monday 5 March, involved interviews with several members of staff and patients discussing their care.
The Communications Team would like to extend a massive thank you to A&E, Main Reception, The Countess Charity, Facilities, Maternity, the Children’s Unit, Ward 45, Intensive Care, Radiology and the Renal Unit for all accommodating the filming whilst continuing to provide the highest quality of safe, kind and effective care for patients.
Some former patients also gave up their own free time to take part. This kind of heartfelt support is never surprising given what our amazing staff do day-in, day-out, but it is also never taken for granted.
Angela, who is a patron of the Patient Association, and the BBC team were hugely impressed by the way the whole hospital welcomed them on the day.
Producer Sarah Mann said: “We had a fantastic day filming at the Countess of Chester, all the staff made us feel so welcome and we really appreciated people taking time out of their very busy days to talk to us. Thanks so much to everyone involved.”
Programme Director for Women & Children’s services Linda Fellowes, who helped to organise the day’s filming, said: “It was a fabulous opportunity to showcase the Trust on a national scale and I was so proud to see so many people respond at such short notice to show the best of Team Countess.”
