Theatres Recruitment Open Day
More than 80 people attended a Theatres Recruitment Open Day at the Countess of Chester Hospital on Wednesday 14 March.
Visitors were given an insight into roles in theatres such as scrub nurses, recovery nurses, operating department practitioners and theatres support workers via a series of demonstrations and talks.
Education partners such as the University of Chester, Staffordshire University and Wirral Metropolitan College also had stands on the day, discussing the options available for anyone interested in pursuing a career in theatres in the NHS.
Speciality Manager Clive Sheppard said: “When we go out into the community people are always curious about what happens in theatres so it’s fantastic that every year we’re able to open our doors, give them a greater insight into how we work and hopefully inspire some of them to join us further down the line. Thank you to everyone who came along, it was great to meet you and good luck with whatever career path you end up choosing.”
Everyone who attended the event has been sent a SurveyMonkey link to give their feedback so that the successes of this open day can be built on for future events. So far 95% of attendees have rated the event 'very good' or better. See below for some comments from the anonymous feedback:

Another theatres open day is currently being planned for October, with discussions taking place over whether on-the-day interviews could be included for anyone interested in working at the Countess straight away.
