Welcome to our new nurses!
We have welcomed 21 nurses to the Countess this week.
These registered nurses have just completed a two-week induction and they will start caring for patients over the next few days.
Our Practice Development Nursing team will continue to provide support as they adjust to working life on the wards, with every newly qualified nurse receiving support with mentorship, additional training and development on a six-month Preceptorship programme.
Royal College of Nursing representative Hayley Cooper stopped by to meet the new nurses for one of their induction sessions – something she says is one of the best parts of her job.
“I love getting the chance to welcome new nurses to the Countess,” Hayley said. “It’s always a pleasure to be surrounded by such enthusiasm and passion for our NHS as they wait to start their careers with us. I look forward to seeing them boost our already fantastic nursing teams throughout the hospital.”
Practice Development Nurse Tara Gibbins said: “This was my first time facilitating the staff nurse induction. It was only five-and-a-half years ago that I was in their shoes as a newly qualified nurse so I was eager to offer support and assurance as they prepare to start on the wards."
