Patients, Visitors & The Public

Welcome to our interactive virtual hospital tour

For many people, especially those with autism or additional needs, visiting hospital can be daunting. We hope this will support patients, particularly those with additional needs, to explore our main Countess of Chester Hospital ahead of their visit or appointment.

We listened to feedback from patients and families who told us that unfamiliar environments can be overwhelming.

In response, we developed this interactive digital tour in partnership with our safeguarding team and Bartex Design. Unlike a static video, this tool offers a fully interactive experience with 360° navigation, clickable hotspots, and access to key areas such as outpatient clinics, waiting rooms, and endoscopy suites.

Who will find this useful?

  • Autistic patients and those with additional needs: The tour is especially helpful for anyone who feels anxious about new environments or hospital visits.
  • Carers and families: Explore the hospital together in advance to help prepare for appointments.
  • Anyone visiting the hospital: Whether you’re a first-time visitor or just want to know what to expect, the tour is open to all.

Our commitment

We take our commitment to improving patient experience seriously and this project is part of our ongoing drive to make care more inclusive for people with autism, dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and physical disabilities. It also supports our Patient and Family Experience Strategy, which prioritises listening to patients and acting on what matters most to them.
