Cellular Pathology
The department is fully accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to ISO 15189:2012 and is also licensed by the HTA under the terms of the Human Tissue Act 2004 to carry out post-mortems and associated activities.
Cervical cytology samples are still collected by Trust transport from General Medical practices from Western Cheshire PCT and Trust colposcopy/gynaecology clinics. These samples are processed and screened at Central Manchester Hospital.
